The death of an east Twickenham father who crashed into a telegraph pole in Surrey was an accident, an inquest has heard.

City lawyer Alex Gibson, 39, was killed when his Audi A6 crashed into the pole in Old Lane, Ockham at 1am on March 22.

Surrey Police, Surrey Fire and Rescue Service and South East Coast Ambulance Service attended but the King’s College graduate, who was the only person in the car, was declared dead at the scene.

Mr Gibson, of Alexandra Road, had worked for international law firm K&L Gates at One New Change in the City for the past 16 years, having been a partner for the past six.

He is survived by his wife Kirsty, also a 39-year-old lawyer, and two young sons, one of whom is a member of Richmond Rugby Club, where Mr Gibson volunteered as a coach to the U6s.

Inquest conclusion: accident.
