A woman celebrating her 100th birthday was presented with flowers and a card from the Mayor of Harrow.
Bessie Citron celebrated the milestone last week during her meeting at the Harrow University of the Third age (U3A).
Mayor Cllr Ajay Maru said: “I congratulate Mrs Citron on her 100th birthday. It was an honour to have celebrated and be part of this special occasion with those close to her.”
Mrs Citron was born in Dublin on August 3, 1914 and was the eldest of five children.
In 1937 she married Aby Citron and the pair had four children. She now has 13 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren living across Ireland, Israel and London.
While still in Ireland she was a Girl Guide Commissioner before moving to London with her husband in 1961.
She has been regularly involved with the Harrow U3A Choir and Opera Group which meets at Harrow Arts Centre, in Uxbridge Road, Hatch End.
