Ewell East station now has step-free access to both of its platforms.
Thanks to a £398,000 scheme funded by the Department for Transport, the station now has ramps, as well as stairs, to each platform.
Train company Southern, which runs the station, has also introduced an adjustable height ticket office window and automatic doors to the ticket office.
The changes were officially opened for use by Geoff Jelly, Disability Alliance Network Mid Surrey representative.
Earlier this month, Ewell resident David Edwards contacted the Epsom Guardian saying he did not understand why there was a delay in the ramps being opened to the public due to health and safety reasons.
He said: "Southern Rail have spent the best part of six months and hundreds of thousands of pounds but I understand the handrail that acts as a barrier does not comply with health and safety regulations.
"It seems absurd."
Kirsty Monk, Southern’s accessibility manager, said: "We’re delighted with the new ramps.
"Passengers using Ewell East station have waited for them for a long time and these new ramps really will make a lasting difference to those who use it."
