Elmbridge Council is embracing the musings of its residents with its annual literary competition focusing on diary entries.
The competition, in conjunction with the RC Sherriff Trust, will allow writers to submit fictional diary entries that might cover a period of time or lead up to or detail the aftermath of an event.
Titled ‘The Diary’, the competition wants Elmbridge residents’ to channel their inner Oscar Wilde by creating real or fictitious characters, incidents and events.
Councillor Tannia Shipley, chairman of the RC Sherriff Trust, said: "This is a very exciting challenge. We look forward to receiving many entries from all age groups and reading the fantastic fictional diaries that you will write for us".
The competition will be judged by a panel of local authors, the director of the RC Sherriff Trust and the arts development officer at Elmbridge Council.
The closing date for entries is Monday, October 27.
