A group of travellers has moved on to land in Esher days after they were forced to leave their camp at Weston Green.
The travellers moved onto Cobbs Green, in Lower Green Road, overnight on Sunday, August 3 after Elmbridge Council started legal proceedings to remove them from nearby Weston Green.
The council were granted a county court hearing for Friday, August 1, for a possession order for its land, but the travellers moved on.
The group has now set up camp on Cobbs Green and the council’s traveller liaison officer and police will visit the site today to carry out a legal assessment for dealing with unauthorised traveller sites.
An Elmbridge Council spokesman said: "The council will start to progress papers in order to apply to the court to repossess the land.
"A court hearing date will be set by the court and will be known shortly.
"The gypsy/travellers will be supplied with a refuse bin and our grounds maintenance contractor carries out site litter clearance where practicable.
"The site will be re-secured and any remaining litter completely cleared when the area is repossessed by the council."
