Sun-seekers can stay in the borough instead of visiting the coast after free beach sessions were created for the public.
Beach volleyball courts have been opened at Teddington Sports Centre, which will also hold beach-themed arts, crafts and games for young children throughout August weekdays.
Richmond Council’s sports team and the London Marathon Charitable Trust invested £50,000 into the volleyball project, which saw the old tennis and netball courts replaced.
Councillor Meena Bond, cabinet member for sport, says: "The council has brought the beach to Richmond this summer so our young people can enjoy free beach fun on their doorsteps.
"The beach volleyball courts will bring so much pleasure to so many people across the borough."
