A huge man-hunt was launched in Raynes Park last night after a woman described as suicidal went missing.
Dozens of police officers supported by the police helicopter and the London Ambulance Service searched for the 39-year-old woman after a close friend raised the alarm.
She was found safe by officers at 12.23am and taken to a specialist hospital for medical treatment.
The extensive search took place around Raynes Park town centre, incorporating Cambridge Road and Holland Garden after police were called just after 11pm last night.
A Metropolitan Police spokesman said they were called to reports a female was missing and there were serious concerns about her well-being.
The spokesman said: “Police dealt with it as a woman at serious risk of harm and launched an immediate search of the area, involving aerial support.
“At 12.23am she was found safe and has been taken for further medical treatment.”
The search involved six mobile police units with more than ten officers.
