Street parties and crowds of people cheering cyclists as they whizz by will welcome bikers through Merton for the RideLondon-Surrey event.

The route will wind through Raynes Park, along Worple Road then left onto Wimbledon Hill Road and past Wimbledon Common before moving into Putney and over the bridge on Sunday, August 10.

Love Wimbledon is hosting a street party from 12pm to 5pm in Wimbledon Hill Road with bicycle themed entertainers, street food and live music all afternoon suitable for all ages.

The free event is one of many across the area to celebrate the thousands of cyclists who will be passing through.

Raynes Park Community Church will be hosting live music and activities for children in Worple Road outside 207 Health and Beauty Salon in Raynes Park. It will be held from 10am to 2pm.

The first of the riders will begin at 6am in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, with the last of the competitors due into The Mall at about 5pm.

Public transport on and around the route will be subject to disruption on the day.

People are advised to check Transport for London's website for updates.

Some road closures will also be in place.
