A serious assault on Sunday has closed a Walthamstow park.
A police cordon was set up around Stoneydown Park in Walthamstow yesterday morning at around 7am.
Entrances to the park in Pretoria Avenue and Blackhorse Road were taped, with an officer guarding each entrance.
Police have refused to release further details of the incident.
A spokesman for Waltham Forest police said: "Police cordens are currently in place in Stoneydown Park, E17, in relation to an ongoing investigation.
"For operational reasons we are not prepared to discuss any further details at this time."
The park, which features a seperate children's area, borders Stoneydown Primary School and Nursery in Pretoria Avenue and St Patrick's Catholic Primary School in Longfield Avenue.
More details to follow.
