A bus driver in Penge was stabbed around the eye with a utility knife in an altercation with a pedestrian.

The victim, 41, was travelling a route 227 bus on Penge High Street late last month when he was attacked.

Officers say at around 5pm on Monday June 30 a man, holding the hand of a child and walking with another with another male, as well as a dog, walked out in front of the bus and caused the driver to "brake hard".

The victim reportedly challenged the male in question, who then "kicked out at the doors" of the bus as it passed. 

After continuing his journey, the bus driver then saw the pedestrain running towards his open window while stopped at a red light. 

Police say the driver suffered a 3cm wound around his eye and was taken to hospital for treatment.

The suspect allegedly made off down Cottingham Road and is described as a black male wearing a bright blue tracksuit. 

Bromley police are appealling for information following the incident.
