A drunken man carried a fake revolver and knife to scare people who hated him, a court has heard.

Paramedics were called on July 20 to help Arash Falahati, 21, who was found drunk in St Mark’s Hill in Surbiton.

But they discovered a fake .357 Magnum revolver and a purple kitchen knife inside his rucksack and called police.

After being taken to Kingston Hospital to be assessed, he then asked attending officers: “Where is my gun and knife?”

Falahati, of Kestrel Close, Kingston, pleaded guilty to possession of an imitation fireman and possession of a knife in public place at an earlier hearing.

At his sentencing at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court on Friday, prosecutor Stuart Stevens said: "The defendant was drunk and possibly under the influence of drugs."

When asked why he was carrying the weapons, Mr Stevens said Falahati told officers: “There’s a lot of people that hate me – I’m going to scare them.”

Jobless Falahati, who lives with his mother, was given a 12-month community order and ordered to complete a thinking skills programme.
