A group of teenagers are determined to make “radical changes” in the way children are taught about drugs.

Farin Somani, who lives in Edgware, has been working to produce an anti-drugs documentary with the help of charity Kids Count.

The 14-year-old, a former member of Barnet Youth Parliament, made the film with nine of her friends to raise awareness about legal drugs, which can still have damaging effects.

Their documentary, Better than the Rest, was launched in the House of Commons earlier this year and will now be handed out to schools in Barnet and Harrow.

Farin, a pupil at Mill Hill Foundation School, said: “From a young person’s perspective, I strongly believe drugs in the way that it is taught is insufficient, purely because it is not coming from a young person’s view.”

The documentary includes interviews with Barnet police, social workers, drug charities and school teachers and young people themselves.
