Superheroes climbed to the top of Mount Snowdon and raised more than £1,600 in memory of a relative.

The family of the late Ms Clements, from Tadworth, who lost her battle with lung cancer last year, donned superhero costumes and took on the challenge in aid of the Princess Alice Hospice which cared for her towards the end of her illness.

Members of the family, dressed as various iconic characters including the Hulk, Danger Mouse, SuperTed and Superman, climbed the peak on Saturday, July 12.

Ms Clements’ son Mark Clements, who dressed as superhero Green Lantern, said: "It was a really good day. It was exciting and memorable.

"It’s not many times you are going to see people in superhero costumes climbing a mountain. We took lots of pictures with people on the way up and down the mountain."

Before the climb, Mr Clements said his mother would have thought the hike was "hilarious". He added: "She would have probably joined us at the top for a drink."

Mount Snowdon is the highest peak in Wales, standing 3,560ft tall.
