David Hassard, from the aviation heritage project, will recount how the Sopwith company, based in the town, played a huge part in the First World War.

The talk is just one in a series of lunchtime lectures hosted by the museum as part of its summer exhibition, showcasing Kingston’s contribution to the war.

S Leader says...

This should be very interesting as Kingston played a big part in WW1 aviation,This is another reason why our Memorial garden should be restored in time for the centenary and also never again be allowed to be anything other than a MEMORIAL GARDEN of peace and tranquility . I do wonder if any of our council know any history of kingston and its military connections both during and after both world Wars
