Man suspected of filling up £25 worth of fuel before driving off at a BP garage in Leyton

A CCTV image has been released by police in Waltham Forest of a suspected fuel thief. 

The man is believed to have stolen petrol at BP in High Road, Leyton, on May 28 at 7.30pm. 

He allegedly filled up £25.05 worth of petrol and drove off without paying.  

The CCTV image has been released to the Guardian as part of a joint venture with the Metropolitan Police to identify potential perpetrators of unsolved crimes in the borough.

Anyone with information is asked contact Waltham Forest police on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

It is good the police are dealing with petty crime as invariably this could lead to larger crime being detected.

Duh! why not just get people to pay first! - Paying first is normal in the USA and many other countries, the attendant just sets the individual pump to stop when the amount paid for is dispensed!

Total common sense and would put and end to this rising fuel crime.

But i suppose this is England and we have struggled with common sense when it comes to crime lately!

So many false number plates around these days too - another crime being swept under the carpet, yet causes so much grief and cost to so many people!
Duh! why not just get people to pay first! - Paying first is normal in the USA and many other countries, the attendant just sets the individual pump to stop when the amount paid for is dispensed! Hehe - some naive apologists may believe that but the vast majority know crime is out of control. It may go up or down a per-cent here and there - but it's still 40% higher than it was 30 years ago. And Rape and sex crimes have never been higher.
Not surprising after the Met admit they have given out cautions for rapes and sex attacks!
We all read the local Rag - It's obsessed with reporting serious crime and short prison sentences!
