Police have released this CCTV image of a man they want to question about a sexual assault on a night bus in Merton.

The 24-year-old woman was travelling on a route N87 bus between Clapham to Worple Road, Raynes Park, when she was inappropriately touched by a man.

He is described as a Mediterranean man, about 40 years-old, wearing a dark coloured Adidas jumper.

The incident happened on Saturday, February 22, between 3.20am and 4am.

Anyone who recognises the man in the CCTV image should contact DC Staniland who is leading the investigation on 020 7421 1074 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 quoting reference 144185.

Police said unwanted sexual behaviour on the transport network is not tolerated and all sexual offences are taken very seriously.

A spokesperson urged people to report incidents of this nature to the police.
