Bexley College is celebrating after obtaining its best ever Ofsted inspection rating after its latest inspection.

Six inspectors spent four days at both college campuses in Tower Road and Upper Holly Hill Road, Belvedere in June and rated it good all areas: outcome for learners, quality of teaching, learning and assessment and effectiveness of leadership of managers.

The college is moving to a new state of the art campus in Walnut Tree Depot Road in Erith town centre from September this year.

The report said: "Students develop very good practical skills which equip them well for future employment, and their work is of a high standard.

"Good teaching and well-paced learning were other features witnessed by the body, as well as activities to ensure students achieve good progress."

The inspection comes at a crucial time, as the previous report identified areas for concern which staff worked relentlessly to try and improve.

Principal Danny Ridgeway said: "I am delighted with the outcome of the report which recognises the efforts of everyone at the college."

"This shows just how much the college has improved and developed over the years."

Chair of governors Michael Clark added: "These are exciting times for Bexley and for the college, we have a good college and a brand new, state-of-the-art campus in Erith."
