Eight puppies found abandoned in a rubbish bin in Orpington last week are doing well, and will soon be seeking a new home.

The pups were discovered by a man in Shire Lane, who took them to Foal Farm Animal Rescue Centre, Jail Lane, Biggin Hill.

They have since been checked over, weighed, wormed and flea treated and will be microchipped before being sold to a loving family.

They have also been named, and are now known as BonBon, Humbug, Dib Dab, Jelly Bean, Mars, Fudge, Crunchie and Bounty.

Sarah Mitchell, kennel supervisor, said: "When we think about how these puppies were discarded, in heat, in a bin and left to die our hearts sink at the total lack of compassion, kindness and care for animal welfare.

"All people need to do is take these unwanted animals to a rescue where they will be kept safe, secure and be loved by the staff and volunteers and given a chance of life."
