YOUNG volunteers from Hillingdon who excel at encouraging others to enjoy playing sport have been given tickets to the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
The borough applied for tickets from national sports charity StreetGames and gave them to eight dedicated volunteers aged 16-18 from Uxbridge College, Barnhill School and Harlington Community School.
They will travel to Glasgow on Tuesday, July 29, and watch netball on the Wednesday, all for free. They will also have the opportunity to see the city and take part in activities organised by StreetGames.
All the volunteers are sports leaders at their school or college and were chosen because they play an important role in getting their peers interested in playing sport.
Many of them run sport sessions for younger teenagers, as well as organising, supervising or refereeing competitions and events.
