Thunder storms and heavy rain have caused flooding and a road closure.

Farm Hill Road in Waltham Abbey was closed at around 8.30pm following prolonged rainfall.

Sewardstone Road was also flooded near the junction with King George Road in the town.

Waltham Abbey Swimming Pool in Roundhills has also encountered problems and posted on its Facebook page: “We have just experienced a flood of water from the rain down the car park.

“It has flooded the gym and reception.

“At present it doesn't look like we will be open first thing.”

Neighbours are reporting on social media of seeing the flooding enter their homes while others have been using sandbags to stem the flow of water into their properties.

There are currently no flood alerts or warnings issued for Epping Forest.
