Princess Alice Hospice set up a living room in a shopping centre to highlight the Lord Mayor’s appeal.
The scene was constructed in the One New Change shopping centre next to St Paul’s Cathedral, with props including armchairs and a cat to illustrate that terminally ill patients would rather stay in a familiar and comfortable setting.
The Esher hospice, chosen as one of the Lord Mayor of London’s charities for the year, also received £125,000 as part of the appeal.
The money will be spent on providing specialist palliative and end of life care to more people in their own homes.
