A pair of intriguing new attractions will mark their openings at an off-kilter, late evening event at the National Maritime Museum.
Dark and Stormy Late, from 6pm to 9pm on Thursday (July 24), will feature cabaret performances, a quiz, short stories, cocktails, tours and lots of things to do.
The evening celebrates the opening of exhibitions Ships, Clocks and Stars and Guiding Lights: 500 Years of Trinity House and Safety at Sea.
For the £5 entry fee (£4 for members, including a glass of wine or non-alcoholic drink), there is a stack of entertainment:
- Shore Leave cabaret and promenade performance
- A pub quiz hosted by The Londonist’s Matt Brown, featuring free bears from Meantime.
- Curators on the gangplank – the museum’s curators have to present their obsessions against the clock or walk the plank
- Dark and Stormy cocktails
- Stories from Jurassic London
- Tours of the two new exhibitions
- Make your own talisman
- Meet Neptune, King of the Seas
- Stories of alienation and disaster
