A hospital raised more than £700 for a cancer charity.

The King’s Oak and Cavell Hospital, in the Ridgeway, Enfield, raised £760 for Cancer Research UK by hosting a barbecue and other activities at the hospital.

The hospital also held a ‘healthy eating menu’ day to help raise fund as part of the ‘big health pledge’ campaign which aims to raise money in the fight against the five biggest preventable killers.

Philip Eke, executive director at BMI The King’s Oak and Cavell Hospitals, said: “It was great to see so many people taking part. We just wanted to show that looking after your health can be fun.

“The Big Health Pledge will hopefully get people thinking about how they could eat healthier, be more active, quit smoking, drink less alcohol and be more health aware – all steps to a healthier, happier life.”

It is hoped the national campaign will raise £10,000 to help against heart disease, stroke, cancer, lung disease and liver disease.
