Transport for London says it will work with Harrow Borough Council to provide step-free access at Harrow-on-the-Hill-Station.
Last week the council announced a feasibility study into the provision of step-free access at the station would be completed by the end of August.
Following the news, London Assembly member for Harrow and Brent Navin Shah welcomed the update but has called for action to help speed up the process.
London Underground’s director of strategy Gareth Powell said: “We are investing billions of pounds redeveloping London Underground and London Overground stations to make them step-free with 25 confirmed schemes over the next decade, but unfortunately we need extra funding to do more.
“Finding the space and changing the infrastructure at stations to construct lift shafts as well as installing very robust lifts is extremely expensive.
“We are trying to achieve even more accessible stations wherever possible with third party funding.
“This approach is already bearing fruit at Bromley-by-Bow and Tower Hill Underground Stations.
“We are currently working with the London Borough of Harrow on a feasibility study and we’ll continue to look for extra funding sources to make the station step-free.”
