A decision on plans for homes in Western Road in Mitcham, has been deferred to next month by Merton Council.

Demolition of the existing buildings and re-development of the site to host 48 homes in three and four storeys, was discussed at a meeting of the planning committee on Thursday, July 10.

The plan would include eleven one bedroom flats, 21 two bedroom flats, 14 three bedroom houses and two four bedroom houses as well as 27 off-street parking spaces.

A number of letters of objection have been received, stating reasons including loss of privacy to neighbours, disruptive building work and a concern over the impact on neighbouring properties.

Council officers recommended approving the application subject to a number of conditions.

It had been deferred from a meeting in June this year and will now be discussed on Thursday, August 21.
