The call of 'lights, camera, action' was heard in Morden Hall Park last week as filming for the Living Wandle community film began.
Directed by Peter Wallder, who runs the Colour House Theatre in Merton Abbey Mills, the Heritage Lottery-funded film is being written and performed by Merton residents using locations around the river Wandle.
Filming for the first scene on Monday and Tuesday involved a wattle and daub style house re-imagining the site as it was for the earliest Wandle settlers.
Future scenes will feature other periods and people as the story unfolds.
Applications to take part in the film, from marshaling to acting are welcome, with lots more work to do before the film premieres at Merton Abbey Mills in September.
The project is part of the Living Wandle Landscape Partnership, co-ordinating 19 projects around south west London aiming to revitalise the river.
