A woman from Twickenham was fined after being caught using her dead sister-in-law's disability parking badge.
Nadima Farani, 38, who lives in Whitton Road, was admitted abusing the blue badge parking scheme at Lavender Hill Magistrates' Court on July 1.
Richmond Council's Internal Audit and Investigation team carried out an investigation on Farani after she was discovered using the badge in Waldegrave Road, Teddington.
Taking into account her early guilty plea and financial circumstances, she was given a fine reduced to £135, and ordered to pay the victim surcharge of £20 as well as costs of £500.
Councillor Geoffrey Samuel, the council's deputy leader, said: "With more of these fraudsters being brought to justice than ever, this is sending a strong message that we will come down hard on drivers illegally using blue badges."
