SIX biscuit recipes have been shortlisted for a national competition, including one from Hillingdon.

Chintal Kakaya, of Sedgwick Avenue, is through to the final of the Border Biscuits Big Baking Bonanza with her salted caramel, cardamom and orange zest butter biscuits.

The final six will now go before an expert panel, fronted by TV chef Dean Edwards, the Border Biscuits baking team and judges from ASDA, where the winning biscuit will be stocked nationally for a limited period.

The winner will also receive £2,000 and a place on a baking course.

Chintal, an occupational therapist, had a fascination with baking from an early age after watching her mum turn basic ingredients into tasty bakes in their native Kenya.

After moving to the UK when she was 12, Chintal developed her skills using traditional, self-taught methods and tips passed on from her mother.

Her baking is inspired by spice and she says she uses baking as a therapeutic outlet.
