A disabled school and a soldiers’ charity were given a cash boost.
Former Barnet Mayor Councillor Melvin Cohen spent his year in office raising money for Kisharon Day School, in Golders Green, and the Mayor of Barnet's Armed Forces Welfare Fund.
Both charities received £19,150 during a celebration event on Wednesday, July 2 at Kisharon School.
Captain Gary Anglin of the London Regiment thanked Councillor Cohen for his “staunch support”.
Kisharon headteacher Sora Kopfstein said the money would promote independence among children with learning disabilities.
The welfare fund will use the money donated to help soldiers injured in battle.
Cllr Cohen said: “It has been a privilege to support these two worthwhile causes – and very exciting.”
