YOUNG people aged 14-25 who were inspired by Wimbledon can pick up a racquet and have a go at Hillingdon’s pop-up tennis clubs.
Held at Fassnidge Park in Uxbridge and The Closes Rec in West Drayton throughout the summer, the sessions are run by the council in partnership with a sports charity called StreetGames and the Lawn Tennis Association.
The clubs are aimed at beginners and provide an easy way to learn tennis skills and improve fitness. Equipment and coaching is provided free.
Pop Up Tennis can be enjoyed every Thursday from 4.30-6pm at Fassnidge Park, Uxbridge, and every Tuesday from 4.30-6pm at The Closes Recreation Ground, West Drayton. Both will run until the end of August.
More than pop-up clubs are being set up across the UK by Streetgames and the LTA this summer, with the aim of reaching 4,000 young people who would not normally have the opportunity to play tennis.
