Primary school children swapped traditional PE classes for Zumba and Brazilian dance Capoeira during National School Sport Week.
Pupils from reception to Year Six at Merton Abbey Primary School in South Wimbledon took part in the South American dance-inspired fitness classes during the last week of June.
Headteacher Michael Bradley said: "We did Zumba because we wanted children doing an activity that clearly celebrates the joy of physical activity.
"The children really had a wonderful time and it has inspired us to think about how we could do this next year."
Mr Bradley said the school is now considering training teachers to teach Zumba from September.
The school introduced fitness classes children were not likely to have tried before to inspire more children to participate regularly in sport.
