Pupils and teachers have raised hundreds of pounds for charity after dressing up in wacky colourful clothing and dancing in the school playground.

Larkswood Primary School in New Road, Chingford, and its sister academy Chapel End Junior in Roberts Road, Walthamstow, was ablaze with colour on June 26 following a dance in support of Macmillan cancer charity.

Each year group performed to a chosen song for five minutes before all the staff and pupils from each school came together for the grande finale of 'we're all in this together' from high school musical.

Performed on each school playground at the same time in front of hundreds of cheering parents and carers, both schools collectively raised £600.

Business manager at Chapel End Claire Keefe said: "It was wonderful to know that we were collectively raising awareness and money for such a worthwhile cause.

"It was a magical afternoon and laughter and cheers could be heard all around as the children and staff boogied and strutted their stuff to the specially-choreographed dance routine.

"We didn’t realise that our staff and pupils had so much rhythm! The performance culminated in the well-rehearsed grand finale of the whole school shimmying along together to the hit song from High School Musical."

Donations are being accepted at both schools until the end of today.
