The final tile was placed on to the roof of a new Esher care home during a topping out ceremony last week.

The mayor of Elmbridge, Councillor Barry Fairbank joined Moore Place staff on Thursday, July 3, to celebrate the completion of the Portsmouth Road facility.

After a tour of the 60-bed care home, run by Anchor, visitors went on to the roof to place the final tile in true topping out tradition.

Jane Ashcroft, chief executive of Anchor, said: "This is a proud moment for Anchor and it’s wonderful that the mayor and mayoress of Elmbridge joined us to celebrate this milestone in the construction of what will be a fantastic care home."
