The leader of Richmond's Liberal Democrats, Councillor Stephen Knight, this week celebrated the arrival of a new baby daughter.

Fellow Teddington councillor Jennifer Churchill gave birth to Rubyana Frances Churchill-Knight at Kingston Hospital on Tuesday, July 1.

Weighing in at 7lb 13oz, she was born at 11.46pm.

Rubyana is their second child, as well as Dylan Rosa, who was born in December 2010.

The mother and father, who live in Harrowdene Gardens, said they were delighted and that older sister Dylan Rosa had already given Rubyana her seal of approval.

London Assembly member Coun Knight said: "She has already met her sister who needless to say is very proud. She is delighted to have a baby sister.

"She has already met her grandparents as well."

Speaking yesterday, he added that he was having some time off work and compared the tiredness of the new arrival to that of the overnight local elections.

He said: "It is a similar feeling of tiredness as after the election actually - mum is obviously tired but is otherwise doing very well."

Coun Knight refused to be drawn on the prospects of the three-day-old becoming a Richmond councillor in the future.
