A curry house has cooked up a whopping £25,000 for charity by hosting a dinner for a sports academy founded by Paralympic legend David Weir.

Le Raj restaurant, in Fir Tree Road, Epsom Downs, hosted a champagne reception, dinner, auctions and raffle evening last Thursday, June 26.

The evening was held in aid of the Weir Archer Academy, which provides athlete and coaching support for schools, clubs and coaches.

Epsom's MP Chris Grayling attended the ᆪ75-per-head event with his wife Sue, as did Enam Ali, Le Raj's founder.

This is definitely one of the better restaurants in the area, well done to all at Le Raj for supporting this cause.

On an unrelated point, one minor remark I would make is that on my last visit I was not convinced when visiting the toilets that the handwash in the luxury branded bottle matched the description on the bottle. It seemed to me that the bottle had been refilled with a (cheaper) substitute. Small point but I don't like being tricked and pay very close attention to detail when I visit a restaurant. In saying that, the food was excellent.
