A basketball team celebrating success on the court is hoping to attract a few new players off it.

The Enfield Steamrollers, who train and play at the College of Haringey, Enfield and North East London, achieved promotion after finishing second in their division this year.

Team manager Khalid Yacoob hopes publicity around the team’s success will attract more young players from around the borough.

He said: “I hope the Enfield Steamrollers and the college can carry on working together and blossom like they have as a loving family in our borough and hopefully around the London areas as well.

"Thank you to everyone who has helped, supported and pushed us to succeed. We truly believe that basketball and a loving community can make a difference in our borough."

A ‘Who's On Fire’ basketball tournament is happening in Ponders End Park this Saturday, July 5, from midday.
