A NEW social network has sprung up and its focus is on connecting communities like Ealing.
More than 2,000 Ealing residents have signed up to the online social platform, Streetlife, so far.
An Ealing resident for just 18 months, Wendy Felstead, 49, now helps organise a coffee morning for her group of friends, who she met through Streetlife.
She said: “It has that safe feeling. You find out all sorts of things that are going on and I log on and off all the time!”
Ealing conversations on Streetlife have ranged from Greenford’s new writers’ group to dentist recommendations.
The platform is used not only to share interests and recommendations, but also for members to lend and give away belongings.
Nina Whittaker, Streetlife’s head of communities, said: “The display of community spirit we’ve seen from Ealing residents has been fantastic.
“It’s obvious that there’s a real desire among neighbours to help one another and we’re delighted to provide an outlet for that.”
Communities across England use the privately-funded site, including areas in London, Norfolk, Suffolk, Essex and Surrey.
