A prostitute who denies hammering her flatmate to death in a jealous rage allegedly went on a £5,500 spending spree with her bank cards after she killed her, a court heard.

Edyta Zawadzka, 30, a mother-of-one, is on trial at Isleworth Crown Court after she denied murdering 43-year-old Julia Anders between November 16 and 30 last year at the flat they shared in Lower Mortlake Road.

On Friday, the jury was shown records from banks and financial institutions that purport seven of Ms Anders’ bank cards were used between November 18 and 29 last year.

CCTV images from stores appeared to show Miss Zawadzka, her brother Pawel Zawadzki and the father of her baby boy at stores where transactions were made.

The jury was told items bought included clothes, shoes, lingerie and a willy lolly, with the total spent on the cards was £5,599.

Five of the bank cards were found inside the defendant’s Louis Vuitton handbag, while another two were recovered from inside her phone case when she was arrested, the court heard.

The prosecution claimed she repeatedly hit Ms Anders over the head with a hammer in the first floor flat in The Towers, Richmond.

The pair worked as prostitutes in the flat, where the bloodied body of the alleged victim was found by police on November 30, the jury heard.

Her brother claimed he found a hammer in a black handbag the defendant was carrying, but she was never seen on CCTV carrying the bag, the prosecution said.

The defence claim it was Miss Zawadzka’s brother who killed Ms Anders.

The trial continues.
