A golf tournament at Surbiton Golf Club has raised more than £5,500 for Princess Alice Hospice.

Grouping themselves into teams of four, 124 golfers made their way around the course at the tournament organised by the Church of the Holy Name, Esher.

After finishing their rounds, golfers were welcomed into the clubhouse to enjoy a meal, auction and raffle to boost the amount raised for the Esher hospice.

Event organiser Mike Beales, from Esher, said: "The idea to hold this event initially came from Father Benny. He does a lot of work with the hospice himself and obviously with the Church of the Holy Name being so local, the parishioners are fully aware of the fantastic work that Princess Alice Hospice does so were quick to get behind it.

"I think that the day itself has been a tremendous success and I’m very pleased that the money we raised will make a difference to the charity."
