Newland House School is helping pupils build entrepreneurial skills by setting up their own mini-businesses.

The Putting Young Minds to Work programme, developed by Nikki de Bruin and Elena Macia of Stride, is an interactive course helping children with planning and pitching business ideas.

Year 6 girls at the school in Waldegrave Park, Twickenham, started the programme eight weeks ago and have been taught about product development, costing, budgeting, marketing and sales and business planning.

David Alexander, headmaster at Newland House School, said: "I am delighted the girls have had the opportunity to participate in this exciting initiative.

"It is vital that young people of today appreciate and are prepared for life after school and I have enjoyed watching the girls plan their adventure with passion and enthusiasm."
