So my other half called me a “nag” the other day, which I thought was funny!

I decided to look the word up in the dictionary and the definition is, “to harass someone to do something they are averse to”.

Now this made me think.

The main thing that you have to get used to when you have children is how your life changes and it’s no longer about yourself.

You now have little people to think of and less time to do it. So it’s all about adjustment.

This week I was filming at the College of Optometrists in London for work and in order to fit my run in, had to be up at 5am.

This meant I was in bed early the night before. However, when my other half planned to go cycling at the crack of dawn (he hasn’t been on his bike for a while and has Ride London in August) he went to bed at midnight and was unhappy when I told him he needed to get up five hours later!

There are always chores to be done and often you have to embrace them like Mary Poppins would.

But no. My other half gets grumpy when I tell him to pick up toys, wash dishes or prepare meals.

The truth is; if he saw what needed doing and just did it with a smile, I wouldn’t have to “nag” him about it.

Why can’t men see that? I said to Michael we should try doing things his way for a week and see what happens.

I could see a sense of panic come over him as the realisation of what I had suggested sunk in.

In the end, he was forced to admit that nothing would get done.
