Newfoundland dogs practising water rescues will be one of an array of displays and activities at this year's Gatton Park Country Fair in Reigate.

The family fun day out will take place in the scenic park in Rocky Lane on Sunday, July 6.

The event will feature demonstrations of country crafts, children's activities, food stalls, circus entertainers and a barbecue.

As well as the displays by the Newfoundland dogs on Engine Pond, there will be more animal magic in the form of a dog show, birds of prey, pony and tractor rides, ferrets and farm animals.

The Surrey Reptile and Amphibian Society will be there too with rare species of lizards, snakes and frogs.

The Surrey Fly Fishing team will give lessons on Hop Garden Pond, there will be punting on the park's Serpentine, Aceairplay inflatables, including a children's bouncy slide and an adults and children's bungee run, and a golf competition.

The park's gardens and grounds will be open – the picturesque setting including a bird hide, a restored Victorian parterre at the centre of the estate, and restored rock and Japanese gardens, all situated in 250 acres of ‘Capability’ Brown-designed parkland.

Dogs on leads are welcome, and pet owners are being encouraged to enter them for the event's dog show.

The Gatton Park Country Fair will run from noon to 5pm with entry £5 for adults and children under 16 free.

Gatton Park is open on the first Sunday of the month from February to October. Website: www.gattonpark.com
