An 11-year-old girl from Walton has the experience of a lifetime as she joined Alistair Cook and the England cricket team for their Test match against Sri Lanka at Lords.

Cricket fan Maisie Bristow, who plays for Ashley Church of England Primary School, was selected as mascot for the Investec Test match on June 12 through a partnership between Waitrose and Chance to Shine.

Maisie was given the opportunity to help the captains with the toss and meet all the players as England fought back from 209-5 to reach 344-5 by the close of play.

Chance to Shine is a nationwide programme run by the Cricket Foundation, with the aim of keeping the sport alive in state schools.
