A man has been charged with a series of sexual assaults against elderly women.

Jermaine Williams, 32, of Durham Road, East Finchley, was charged on Tuesday with four counts of sexual assault against four separate victims between March 1 and March 27.

Police had issued an appeal for witnesses on March 14 after an elderly woman was sexually assaulted at a bus stop in Fortis Green opposite Springcroft Avenue.

As a result of the appeal, three more victims of similar offences in East Finchley came forward.

Williams was arrested on April 14 and bailed pending further enquiries before being charged.

He appeared in custody on Wednesday at Highbury Corner Magistrates' Court where he was remanded to appear at Wood Green Crown Court on July 2.
