A Hersham charity is continuing to look after two greyhounds, six months after their home was flooded.

Wimbledon Greyhound Welfare in Turners Lane took in Georgia and Ben after flooding in December and February caused significant damage to their owners' home in Godalming.

Ben, 10, had previously lived at the kennels for four years until he was taken home in December, but he returned shortly after because no available temporary accommodation was dog-friendly.

Denise Dubarbier, manager of Wimbledon Greyhound Welfare, said: "All Ben ever needed was someone to love. Having finally found that special person, it seems so unfair that just as he was settling in at home, he had to be returned to us so soon, due to the winter floods.

"Their owner comes to the kennels without fail every week to see her dogs and they are always so pleased to see her. I just hope for all their sakes, that they are allowed to move back home very soon, so they can all enjoy the precious time they have together."

Wimbledon Greyhound Welfare is an independent and self-funding charity which cares for a rehomes retired racing greyhounds.

The kennels are open to the public to walk the dogs from 11am to 2pm every day.
