Waltham Forest Council leader Chris Robbins has appointed his cabinet for the next four years.

The Grove Green ward councillor and council leader since 2009 was officially re-elected at the council's annual general meeting (AGM) on Thursday.

During the Town Hall meeting, councillor Robbins announced the majority of cabinet members will remain the same, including councillor Clyde Loakes continuing his role as deputy leader.

Councillor Khevyn Limbajee has replaced councillor Marie Pye as the portfolio member for housing.

Labour councillor for Hoe Street Mark Rusling has been appointed as the cabinet member for children and young people, replacing High Street ward councillor Clare Coghill who will now take on the newly-formed role as portfolio lead member for economic growth and high streets.

Councillor's Liaquat Ali MBE, Ahsan Khan and Angie Bean will continue as lead members for community safety and cohesion, health and well-being and adult services respectively.

Long-serving Labour councillor of 30 years Terry Wheeler has been nominated and elected as the borough's mayor for the next 12 months.

Labour won a majority of 44 out of 60 seats at the local election on May 22.
