A number of residents and workers have been recognised in the latest Honours list.

More than 1,000 people have been recognised in this year’s Queen’s Birthday Honours List, including A-list celebrities Angela Jolie, Maggie Smith and Daniel Day-Lewis.

Among the number are a handful of Barnet and Hertfordshire residents or workers.

The British Empire medal was awarded to Pamela Edwards for voluntary service to the Arts and also to Dr Gillian Carol Gear for services to History.

Fauziah Scarisbrick, head of mathematics at Queen Elizabeth's School, was awarded an MBE for her services to education.

Thomas Morkill, School Governor at Dame Alice Owen's School in Potters Bar was also awarded an MBE for services to education.
