Celebrities and students dug out their cricket whites for the penultimate event in the Reed’s School bicentenary celebrations.

As the sun shone down on the Cobham school, players gathered on the oval on Sunday, June 8, while spectators positioned themselves around the boundary to enjoy a drink or cream tea while the sportsman played.

Old Reedonian Tim Heman captained the celebrity cricket team and was backed up by TV presenter Chris Hollins, actor Dan Renton Skinner and former England cricketers Alex Tudor and Ian Salisbury.

After a close match, the celebrities were crowned the winners, winning with 216 runs to 200 in the 30 over match.

Tim Henman said: "I am so pleased to have the opportunity of once more playing cricket at Reed’s School and I’m very proud of all that my former school has achieved in this bicentenary year.

"The school excels in bringing on young sporting talent and in providing support to schools and individuals that face disadvantage through its charitable foundation."

Alongside the cricket, a number of craft stalls and food outlets also filled the site along with a magic show and fun games for children and other entertainment for the whole family.

The old-fashioned stocks proved to be one of the most popular attractions, particularly when headmaster David Jarrett agreed to do his time.

Well known faces also lent a helping hand elsewhere at the community day, with singer Michael Ball drawing the winning tickets for the raffle and DJ Mick Brown from Radio Jackie compering the day.
