DASH, the Hillingdon disability group, has received £90,000 over three years to boost participation in sporting and leisure activities among young, disabled people in the area.
The grant, awarded by the City of London Corporation’s charity, City Bridge Trust, will enable the charity to increase the number of current sports, which include football, golf, boccia, line dancing and multi-sports.
The money will also be used to train existing disabled participants as activity leaders.
DASH (Disablement Association of Hillingdon) was established 30 years ago to empower, inspire and motivate disabled people and help them reach their full potential.
In addition to the sports and exercise sessions, young people also benefit from employability training, detailed benefit advice and work experience placements.
Robert Burton, deputy chief officer of DASH, said: “This generous grant is going to be so important for our future planning and will enable us to provide more chances for disabled people to get involved with our sport and leisure activities.”
City Bridge Trust provides grants totalling around £15m per year.
