Waltham Forest Council has denied claims made by a uniform retailer that a school's unfair decision to use another supplier could bankrupt her business.
Owner of Victoria 2 Schoolwear in Hoe Street Walthamstow, Janet Cohen, is taking legal action against Lammas School and Business College in Seymour Road, Leyton, after they changed their pupil’s uniform.
As the biggest stockist for the school, Mrs Cohen claimed she placed her usual order for clothing in 2013 after checking with the school.
Howeve, she says she is is now left with £24,000 worth of branded jumpers and sweatshirts after the school decided to change its uniform.
Lammas school uniforms are now sold from a stockist in Newham.
The council will represent the school at trial on October 9.
A spokesman said: “The school denies the allegations Mrs Cohen has made and will be vigorously defending the court proceedings.
“Due to reasons of confidentiality neither the Council nor the school can comment further at this stage.”
